Saturday 12th April 2008: One-Way Youth Event: This was a fantastic evening where over 750 young people came together to worship Jesus and to hear from God's word. The 1WAY band and dance team again did a superb job in leading us in worship and it was a delight to be joined by Jerome Westbrooks and Todd James (a basketball player and coach) who both shared testimony. As part of the evening, we gunged a local school teacher and gave away prizes including a mountain bike. Throughout the event we were challenged to 'slay the giants' - as Christians we need to take on giants in our world (lack of education, famine, disease etc) and we raised over £1000 to support various Christian works throughout the world who help with these specific areas. The non-Christians were challenged to slay the giants that hold them back from following Jesus and we praise God for the 101 young people who responded that night and surrendered their lives to Jesus.
